Training Course

The National Atlas and Thematic Mapping Organisation (NATMO), a premier map making organization at national level under the Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India was set up in 1956. The organization is a unique one in preparation of maps and atlases including Braille Atlas (for visually impaired) to provide services to the national and international arena through geographical research on thematic cartography using Geospatial Technology. As a part of the service it provides training to Geographers, Geologists and Professionals from various disciplines belonging to different central/state government departments, Colleges, Universities and autonomous institutions.


NATMO is starting training programme on 'Geographical Information System and Thematic Cartography' for about four weeks during the period from 14th  May to 8th  June, 2018, with the following objectives:

  • capacity building of human resources at professional level,
  • to provide exposure about thematic cartography,
  • to impart practical applications of GIS on thematic cartography,
  • to share the experiences about the advanced map making techniques i.e. Geospatial Technology.

  • Introduction of Topographical maps
  • Basic Concepts of GIS
  • Concept of Data and Development of database
  • Thematic Cartography
  • Spatial Analysis along with Statistical interpretations
